USCG Approved and STCW-95 Compliant Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS)

A team of professional licensed mariners teaches the 70-Hr. Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) course. The course combines formal classroom training reinforced with step-by-step practice procedures on our GMDSS simulators. Each student has their own simulator to maximize and enhance their GMDSS skills. There is a final exam consisting of 100 questions with 75% required for passing along with several assessment conducted throughout the class on the GMDSS simulators.

By successfully passing the 100 question exam you no longer will need to take the FCC Element 7 exam of 76 questions. That's correct, the FCC will honor your certificate as proof of passing the FCC Element 7 Exam.

While taking the GMDSS class you can also take your Element 2 FCC exam. For a nominal fee we will provide you with a study disk and test you during on of your lunch breaks for the 25-question element 1 FCC exam.

Upon successful completion of the course you will have satisfied the following USCG requirements:
  • Training requirements of 46CFR 10.205(n)
  • Table A-IV/2 of the Seafarer's Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code.
